Inheritance in Morocco

When a relative dies, they often leave assets in Morocco: houses, land, bank accounts, company shares. We help you obtain the necessary deeds, list the assets, organise the division between heirs and, if there is a disagreement, defend your rights in court.

Property

  • Buying or selling property in Morocco remotely, with land title checks
  • Recovering property occupied without right or land taken by others
  • Disputes with a developer, a tenant or a family member
  • Regularising unregistered property

Family: marriage, divorce and foreign judgments

A divorce granted in Europe must in principle be recognised by the Moroccan courts to take effect in Morocco: this is the exequatur procedure. We also handle divorce, maintenance and child custody cases before Moroccan courts.

Proceedings in your absence

With a power of attorney, the firm can represent you before Moroccan courts and administrations. The power of attorney can usually be signed and certified at the Moroccan consulate in your country of residence. We tell you exactly which documents to prepare.

Follow-up designed for distance

Phone, WhatsApp, email or video calls, in English, French, Arabic or Spanish: we keep you updated on your case wherever you live.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to come to Morocco for my case?

Not necessarily. With a power of attorney signed at the consulate, the firm can carry out most steps and represent you in court. Your presence may be required for certain acts; we will tell you in advance.

Is my divorce granted abroad valid in Morocco?

To take effect in Morocco, for example for civil status or remarriage, the foreign judgment must in principle go through an exequatur procedure before the competent Moroccan court.

A relative is occupying the inherited property: what can I do?

First, each heir's rights must be established, then an amicable division attempted. If there is no agreement, a court action for division or eviction can be brought.

How do we communicate with the firm?

By phone, WhatsApp, email or video call. You can send your documents electronically for an initial review.
